Lahore High Court Directs Police to Protect Arseen Masih’s Family from Unlawful Harassment
On October 28, 2025, a dispute in District Layyah resulted in allegations that Arseen Masih’s family was involved in the alleged kidnapping of a young woman. An FIR was registered against Arseen’s elder son, Mubeen Masih. Following the registration of the case, the family reported repeated police raids at their home and alleged damage to their property.
The family further reported that Arseen’s younger son, Musharaf Masih, was taken into custody and allegedly subjected to torture for 18 days in connection with efforts to locate the woman. Due to continued pressure and fear, the family left Layyah and relocated to Faisalabad, while police reportedly continued visiting the homes of their relatives.
The family approached the Organization for Legal Aid (OLA) on March 3, 2026. On March 5, OLA counsel appeared before the Lahore High Court, Multan Bench, and argued that since Mubeen Masih was the person named in the FIR, the investigation should be confined to him and other family members should not be subjected to unnecessary harassment.
The Honourable Court accepted the submissions and issued directions restraining the police from unlawfully or unnecessarily harassing the family.
OLA continues to provide free legal assistance to vulnerable families and to use lawful legal remedies to protect persecuted minorities from unlawful interference and abuse of authority.
