Saba Boota Blasphemy Case

Acquittal of Zubaeem Masih and Others in Blasphemy Case

Zubaeem Masih, a 19-year-old Christian from District Rawalpindi, was among a group of young Christians who faced blasphemy allegations following an evangelism activity at Rawalpindi Railway Station on September 4, 2024. The group included Adeel, Aneeta, Saba Boota and Jonathan. Saba Boota, who was leading the group, was preaching through a speaker when members of the public alleged that offensive and derogatory remarks had been made against their religious beliefs.

Railway Station Police subsequently arrested Saba Boota and the other members of the group and registered a criminal case against them. The accused were granted post-arrest bail on September 5, 2024, and the trial proceedings continued thereafter.

Organization for Legal Aid (OLA) provided legal representation to Zubaeem Masih during the proceedings. OLA’s counsel formally entered the case in March 2026 and continued to represent Zubaeem through the subsequent proceedings.

On September 15, 2026, the Lahore High Court, Rawalpindi Bench, heard the matter and acquitted Zubaeem Masih and the other accused persons. The acquittal followed arguments presented by OLA’s counsel challenging the allegations and the prosecution’s case.

The decision brought the proceedings to an end for the accused persons, who had faced serious criminal allegations arising from the evangelism activity. OLA’s representation ensured continued legal assistance and advocacy for the accused throughout the proceedings and appellate process.
