Death of Dawood Patras Following Alleged Police Torture
On August 22, 2026, Dawood Patras died after falling into a canal during an incident involving police personnel in Tehsil Kahror Pacca, District Lodhran. According to the family and witnesses, Dawood was allegedly subjected to physical violence and intimidation by police personnel before he fell into the canal. The circumstances surrounding his death have raised serious concerns regarding the alleged use of excessive force and abuse of authority.
On August 28, 2026, the Organization for Legal Aid (OLA) visited Dawood’s family to offer condolences and provide moral and legal support. During the visit, the family entrusted the matter to OLA for legal assistance and representation in seeking justice and accountability.
The OLA team also visited the reported place of occurrence and the concerned police station to gather information and better understand the circumstances surrounding the incident. OLA is pursuing the matter through lawful channels and will continue to assist the family in seeking appropriate legal remedies.
