About This Case
Legal Representation for Ishfaq Masih’s Family Following Assault in Sheikhupura
On May 9, 2025, members of Ishfaq Masih’s family were allegedly assaulted by their neighbours in Sheikhupura following tensions between the two families. According to the information provided to the Organization for Legal Aid (OLA), the attackers were carrying sticks, iron rods, and other sharp objects. Several family members, including young men and elders, sustained injuries, including head and bone injuries.
The dispute reportedly followed an earlier incident in which a young man from the opposing family allegedly took Ishfaq Masih’s sister from her home, after which she converted to Islam and married him. According to the family, tensions between the two families subsequently increased.
Although the incident was reported to police on the day of the assault, the family states that the FIR was registered on May 19, 2025, after they provided medical reports documenting their injuries.
OLA has taken up the matter and is providing legal representation to the affected family. In the ongoing proceedings, the post-arrest bail applications of some accused persons were dismissed by the Magistrate and subsequently by the Sessions Court. The pre-arrest bail applications of five other accused persons are currently pending before the Sessions Court in Sheikhupura.
OLA continues to assist the family through the legal process and to pursue appropriate remedies in accordance with law.
